Thomas Amelio
The core yoga practice of meditation (dhyana) frees us from fear and reveals our true nature as freedom itself. It purifies us from the emotional and psychological conditions called samskaras. In this class, we will learn and experience some of the transformative practices of the esoteric yoga tradition:
- basic awareness and breath meditation
- pranayama (breathing methods)
- meditation to free us from attachment and aversion (raga and dvesha)
- self-inquiry (atma vichara); consciousness and life force practice (chitta/prana meditation)
- spontaneous meditation (sahaj), and more
All are yoga practice intended to purify our body and mind of kleshas (inner obstacles), so that we can more fully experience the union of satchidananda—our real nature as truth, consciousness and joy.
